Using Hubzilla for multiple Fediverse accounts

Dear all,

i am in the midst of starting my own hub. For the moment without external registration.

I did read somewhere a couple of months ago, that Hubzilla is capable of adding accounts (via channels or clones?) from other Fediverse services and use them from there. I have additional accounts on Friendica and Mastodon. Is this possible and what is the most common way to utilize this? #OpenWebAuth #NewHubzillaAdmin

@𝓒𝓱𝓻𝓲𝓼 @⚝ Mirk0 ⚝'s plan is rather to fully integrate a Friendica or Mastodon account into Hubzilla, remote-control it from Hubzilla, send posts through Friendica or Mastodon via the Hubzilla UI, comment on posts that came in through his Friendica or Mastodon accounts through Friendica/Mastodon via the Hubzilla UI etc.

Basically like Friendica could/can integrate Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr and Bluesky accounts into Friendica.

You may have mistaken Channel Sources for such a remote control. What Channel Sources actually does is: You connect to another actor, be it a Fediverse user, be it an RSS/Atom feed, whatever. Then you define it as a channel source, and whatever comes in from there, Hubzilla will automatically send out to your connections as a new post, credited to the original poster, but sent under your name. It's more like a Twitter bot on Mastodon, but as an official Hubzilla add-on.

I think he is more interested in being able to log in to other services via Hubzilla, i.e. to authenticate himself. Did I understand that correctly, @Mirk0 ?

@Der Pepe (Hubzilla) ⁂ ⚝ Yes, that is also part of my goal. Maybe OpenWebAuth was the wrong hashtag, i think it's OpenID. But i am not sure, sorry. I think there is a popup sometimes when entering Hubzilla sites.

@Mirk0 I've never used this before. In principle, Hubzilla should be able to do this as long as the admin has activated the OpenID add-on. I assume (not tried, due to lack of opportunity) that your profile URL should then be your ID.

Whether it works, I do not know, as I said.

Hubzilla does have an OpenID addon. I have been curious about it myself.

I definitely want to explore the different authentication methods available. We have OpenWebAuth built in. We have addons for OpenID and OAuth2. Hubzilla can be set up as an identity provider using multiple protocols.
