direct messages to mastodon

Hubzilla Support Forum Hi there!
i have a problem regarding inter-fediverse communication. i was trying to send a direct message to a mastodon account but obviously this didn't get through. the address part of the message wasn't highlighted. strange thing is, that it worked from this mastodon account towards mine. i checked with diaspora and there both ways of direct messages seem to be working.
are direct messages from hubzilla to mastodon supposed to work? if yes, any special tricks needed?
prhps this has been answered already but i'm unable to find my way ...
