Anyone knows how to setup a channel behavior in Hubzilla 7 for a channel which was Social - restricted before?

I see only choices
Public / Personal / Community forum / Custom

And desired setting is default access of posts/files to approved channel contacts only. I never dealt with "Custom" which is suggested not to use when somebody does not know how and I really dont. I have some real work channels in public institution so I need officially supported setting which cannot go wrong.

In order to post to a specific privacy group by default, like the previous "Social - restricted" role, go to the privacy groups app at /group , select the group you want and turn on "Post to this group by default". You may have to install the privacy groups app from /apps/available first.

Those channels are for sharing copyrighted material which cannot go public to registered researchers. That is done by moderators who are not Hubzilla experts.

Whes I set channel role it does not affect already existing content just new things right?

Channel role has nothing to do with access lists. So no.

My understanding is that you can never go beyond the channel limits, so "public" = "channel limits". If you set a channel limit "only myself", than this is "the public"... ACL can further restrict (closed lock item) to connections and lists of connections ("privacy groups"), or not (open lock item), and the default privacy group app (now the automatically post to switch in each privacy group) can define which restriction is preset as a standard in the ACL for new items (for any, so no matter if post, article, wiki, or file).
