Future predictions?
Not sure how to frame this question!
This is about the longevity of the Hubzilla (or similar other using zot/nomad protocol) as a software that will be sustained throughout the coming years. For example, the public-facing Wordpress or Drupal is sustained by a lot of developers (both free and commercial) for the past twenty years or so and looks like it will be for unforeseen future. On the other hand, we have seen projects coming to a standstill or dying like geeklog, elgg (from hundred devs now just 2) etc. Quite a few sites enlisted in the public lists of Hubzilla are no more available or shifted to some other points. As a small, very small site we will not want such a destiny. The question thus is will Hubzilla be having or "attracting" enough devs to sustain it for the next 20 or 30 years or more? Are there more than a few interested devs or its only one person, who if discontinues due to any reason, the project comes to a standstill? While Friendika gathered a few devs (more than one) and has a bursting issue lists, it seems Streams which is the best is not .... the recent world trend is more in favor of devs looking into commercial niche and in the last 10 years there has been, for example, no young very young lad coming up with solutions like Drupal (college student Dries) and Wordpress (very young Matt) - this is to say that in this world dominated by fb and media-sharing giants, we do not have that mindset. In short -
* Will Hubzilla or Streams be sustained for years to come?
* Are there sufficient number of like-minded developers?
This is not to hurt any sentiment of any-one as this is the most wonderful project to happen in fediverse but just to address the fear and anticipation about future.
