WEBP Images don't get recognized by Photos App

I just installed Hubzilla for myself and I need help.

I used Photos app and uploaded files with extension 'webp` and 'JPG'.  Photos app then displays recent JPG files, but not webp.  Totals only count JPG files.

I checked Files app and the same folder contains both JPG and webp images.

In fact I started with uploading `webp` versions of images, but I saw none listed.  I ended up uploading 4 JPG to see if app works and it does.

I intentionally listed extensions as 'webp' and 'JPG'. Because that's the capitalization used by file names.

I see webp files in my Photos app. Does your server have support for webp images?

I can view webp files through Files app without any problem. I am using a shared hosting provider, so they might not have all the image manipulation tools installed.

I have resolved the problem. The following are details.

ImageMagick on my shared hosting provider does not have support for 'webp' files. Well, it kind of does, but it does not have 'webp' conversion applications.

List built-in support: convert -version produces:

Delegates (built-in): bzlib djvu fftw fontconfig freetype jbig jng jpeg lcms lqr ltdl lzma openexr pangocairo png tiff wmf x xml zlib

List delegates produces: convert -list delegate includes line webp => "dwebp' -pam '%i' -o '%o"

Application "dwebp" does not exist.

I had to download application from Google
Precompiled Utilities | WebP | Google for Developers and unzip it into my user directory.

Then I had to add path "$HOME/libwebp-1.3.2-linux-x86-64/bin" to PHP PATH environment variable, $HOME is expanded.

I tried doing it with apache "htaccess" config file using 'SetEnv PATH "...:/home/user_id/libwebp-1.3.2-linux-x86-64/bin"', but it did not have the intended effect.

So, I added line to project's ".htconfig.php" file putenv('PATH=EXISTING_PATH:/home/user_id/libwebp-1.3.2-linux-x86-64/bin');

Once I did that uploading new "webp" files resulted in proper recognition of image files.

The original issue can be observed in logs with this error message

PHP Fatal error:  Uncaught ImagickException: no decode delegate for this image format `WEBP' @ error/blob.c/BlobToImage/353 in /home/user_id/hubz/include/photo/photo_driver.php:120

Good work. I'd ask your hosting provider to update ImageMagick too. Webp is a pretty standard format.
