Hubzilla Profiles on Mastodon
I found something interesting about how Mastodon v4.0.2 displays Hubzilla profiles.
Apparently, if you click on your channel name from within Mastodon, it sends you to a local profile of you, instead of your instance (see image below). But if you enter the same URL in your browser, it redirects you immediately.
#^https://seocommunity.social/@scott@scottstolz.comI also found it interesting that Mastodon thinks that my account is locked (that I review all followers before accepting). I think part of that is because I don't approve all connections, because, quite frankly, I want people to follow my public posts, but I do not necessarily want to follow everybody back. That would clutter up my timeline and notifications.
I also find it interesting that it recognizes that I have 86 connections (represented as who I am following), but also says that I have 40 followers. Where are those 40 followers coming from? Are they Mastodon followers? I never received any notification of anyone following me from Mastodon.
Is there any way to tell Mastodon that anyone can follow me? My public posts are public for a reason. I just don't necessarily want to follow back. And if people are following me on Mastodon, why don't I receive any notifications of Mastodon users following me?
And, here is the profile they show if you click on your channel from within Mastodon. For example, if you commented on someone's post, and you click on your name.
