Upload and embedding form lage images

If i try to insert a new image by the "Attach/ Upload" button is woks just fine with small Images but when i upload an image with the since lager than 4MB the image is just added as attachment and NOT embedded with a thumbnail.
Somehow the compression of the image by gd or imagick is not working right?
How can i set up the server in a better way?

no it does not make a difference - if i do it like that the embedding option is not given ... because the thumbnail is missing?

I´m on Yunohost and there is already an issue about that...

did some more testing - it has actually nothing to do with just images... every file with more than 2MB is not uploaded right...
after the upload it shows the name the file but with 0 Byte

i´m not aware of any upload restriction in .htconfig.php

I made testes with several channels - all the same result

What could cause the problem?

php upload restrictions has always been a setting in the php ini files:

upload_max_filesize = 20M
post_max_size = 21M

Currently there are versions for the cli, apache and for fpm. On a debian like system they can be found at /etc/php/*/php.ini

so now I´m awake gain and sitting in front of my PC.

he said he could upload large files without trouble - the problem was the generation of thumbnails

that was a wrong statement of mine, i was looking not close enough - not only the thumbnail was missing also the file as it self, even so it was shown as attachment... but the attachment than was empty - sorry for this misleading statement earlier.

So I did some more testing

I did a reset for the php.ini files to

upload_max_filesize = 2M
post_max_size = 8M

but kept the settings for

/etc/php/7.3/fpm/pool.d/hubzilla.conf
where i uncommented the lines:

php_admin_value[upload_max_filesize] = 50M
php_admin_value[post_max_size] = 50M

Uploads now are still working :-) . May this be a save configuration ?

So is the file
/etc/php/7.3/fpm/pool.d/hubzilla.conf
part of php or yunohost?

My guess: it is a yunohost file.

The admin setting probably overrides the the other settings in php.ini

for every app which is installed by yunohost and uses php 7.3 there is such a config file in /etc/php/7.3/fpm/pool.d/ with different options

Given these constraints, I would highly recommend:

php_admin_value[upload_max_filesize] = 2M
php_admin_value[post_max_size] = 6M

I just tried this but uploads with more than 2M do not work than :-(
What can I try next?

It should be utf8/utf8mb4 for the entire pipeline.
