Hello everybody,

My Hubzilla instance is now 7 years old and sometimes I feel that not everything runs smoothly. Is there any way to check the "health status" of my instance? E.g. if all database tables are correct, maybe there are inconsistencies or there are still outdated settings in my system, because e.g. a database update did not run correctly?

And what would be the solution? Can I set up a fresh installation and take all my previous data with me (under the same url)?

Thanks for your tips, but that wasn't exactly what I meant. I was not talking about general database problems but Hubzilla specific problems. For example, a year ago I noticed that the collation and character set of several tables are not correct because a database update did not run correctly.

Now I wonder if there are other tables that are not correct in terms of structure.

I found the same sort of database issues years ago. I think what I ended up doing was comparing the schema in the source code (I found it in there somewhere) with the schema in the database and manually changing things to match. I'm sure there are automated ways of accomplishing this, but for what I hoped was a rare occurrence, the manual way worked for me.

@｛Hans｝ I'm doing my updates in a similar way (now). But as I mentioned before: my instance is about 7 years old. I just have the "feeling" that something is wrong with my database schema.

My actual plan is to create a new empty database, simply dump the db schema of both databases and compare the dumps (#^https://stackoverflow.com/questions/24639560/mariadb-compare-database-schemas).

I have actually discovered several discrepancies in my database structure. Beside that my character set is still utf8 instead of utf8mb4 and a so a lot of columns are char(255) instead of char(191) there are severel wrong keys. I don't know if some of my problems originate from this but I'll try to fix it in my next step.
