I guess this is what offers you comments under your post which you can either accept with a green button or decline and delete with a red one.
I have it on, and everything that has come in this way so far was third-class low-effort spam.

I think it means that people who are not connected to you can post comments (but not start new threads), and that their posts are moderated before appearing.
But I am not sure if that is the exact criteria it uses.
If that is how it works, this might be useful for support channels or forums or articles where you want people to be able to comment even if they are not connected to your channel.

THANKS
just did some testing
so this function is for commands that do not come form HZ but form AP sides...
If you have setup your HZ channel with the "Public" ChannelRole anybody can reply to your Postsβ¦ anybody just need to call up the URL of the post and can comment and those posts will show up also in your timeline and will be distributed to your followers β¦
NOW
IF you set up you HZ Channel with the "Privat" Channel Role in the ZOT/Nomad Network even if you post public just approved connections can reply to your posts⦠that is because the permission "Can comment on or like my posts" is set automatically form "Anybody authenticated" to "Approved connections"
this protection does not work in the AP Fediverse Network⦠as before , anybody who calls up the URL of a post can still reply to your public post
NOW
if you activate "Accept unsolicited comments for moderation Otherwise they will be silently dropped" under
/settings/privacy
anybody in the AP Fedivese can still commend any public posts
but this replies will just show up public in YOUR timeline and will be distributed to YOUR followers if you approve the post..
THIS IS A GREAT FUNKTION
but please aware: the replies are still visible in the rest of the Fediverse e.g. on the pages of the AP Channel which made the reply

This all works also for HZ Forums ... but just for comments...
I was not able to set up a HZ Forum that way that a top level post can be first moderated before it gets published... or that posts form certain connections first have to be moderated before they get published
up to now this are features we just finde in Streams
