Is there a way to make it so that a person must be logged in, or be remotely authenticated via OpenWebAuth, to see a webpage?

I see that you could allow friends. I suppose a workaround would be to require that they connect to a particular channel to see the pages.

Is that the only way to do it within the webpages app?

As @RockyIII already mentioned you can use ACL for webpages an even menu items...

And can I set every user/channel to automatically be in that privacy group, without connecting to a channel? Or do they have to connect to a channel?

The privacy options say "Add new contacts to this group by default" but that implies that they have to be a contact first.

Ideally, just being logged in gives them access, regardless of whether they are connected to a channel or not.

depentig on that go to:

/settings/channel

set

"Channel role"

to

"custom"

got to

/settings/privacy

set permission for

"Can view my channel webpages"

to

anybody authenticated ( every channel in the Fediverse can see the webpages)
anybody in this network (every HZ Account can see the webpages)
anybody in this website (every Account on the Hub can see the webpages )

To the website, either by using /login or /rmagic (remote authentication).

Basically, I am creating a members only area and content is hidden unless you are logged in or authenticated. That way there is an incentive to sign up for an account either on my website, or on another Hubzilla powered website. It increases the user count, and also build a community.

I'll try the channel roles. Thank you.

@Mario Vavti So, with ACL, they are required to be connected to the channel, correct?

I suppose that could work. I could just use the setting in the .htconfig file to make them automatically connect to certain channels. And change the template files to tell people to connect to the channel to see the content, for those not connected.

This is free content. I just want them to make an account to see it.
