The server administration shows thousands of 'messages queued'
What does this mean?
How to fix please?

It could be something as simple as the server those messages are being sent to is down.
It could also mean that your Cron script is not running. Try running it manually and check for errors.
If all else fails, enable debug logging and look for errors there.

crontab -l

debug log shows nothing fatal:
php arrays for addition of new 'connections'
'master.php' info for 'onepoll'
no servers are reported 'down'
Connections do not show any content (zot, diaspora, activitypub) until the 'connections' title is mouse activated

The behaviour continues. Thousands of messages are queued and the log file reaches 5 gb file size, after about 30 days.
