filter and search

is there a syntax to combine two filter or search queries - e. g. for searching for two hashtags
like
?f=&tag=hashtag1&tag=hashtag2
( = that does not work )

I've filed
an issue
about it last month. Nothing has happened so far because I can't prove that this is actually wrong.

As for filters, if you use filter syntax (= anything that starts with a question mark), it doesn't support multiple keywords or hashtags in one line. Before you try that, it doesn't support regular expressions either. Only one keyword or hashtag per line.
To make matters worse, if your filter uses filter syntax at the bottom, the lines are connected by
AND
. So if you put multiple
tag=
or
cat=
or
body=
lines in your filter, they will all be used. For example, if you put them into your allow list, the filter will only let messages through that contain
all of them
, not
either of them
as one might expect.
So with filter syntax, you have two choices. Either you filter by only one word. Or you filter by a number of words, but all of these words have to be present or absent for a message to make it past the filter.
If you want to build a traditional filter list, you must not use filter syntax. This, in turn, makes it impossible to limit filters to only posts and deactivate them for comments and direct messages.
I've described this in
another issue
.
In order to fix this, we need someone to actually develop a patch that introduces conditional orders to Hubzilla filters and submit a pull request.
