Embedding external video

Embedding external video does not seem to work anymore. I'm running v8.0 and no matter what I try, my posts end up with just a URL. Using [video] tags does produce a video player with clouds but pressing play reports that the video is not playable or unsupported mime type. I've tested YouTube, Vimeo etc but all the same. Noembed addon exhibits the same behaviour. Has anyone managed to successfully embed a video recently? Any help appreciated.

I tested the video tag with youtube here and see the same issue.

This should, in theory, work with [embed] instead of [video]. Be aware, though, that not all your connections might see the embedded video in their stream, since it also depends on their own settings. I, for example, can't see any embedded video and get a link instead, simply because I'm not allowing any embeds on my hub. And the link is a lot less pretty than a standard link to, say, YouTube, since there's no preview. They will, however, see the embedded version when they look at your channel.
