Hubzilla to Lemmy: How-to and what
I've experimented a little with #
Lemmy today. So if anyone wants to use Lemmy remotely from Hubzilla, this could be useful.
First of all, while Lemmy communities are listed as forums, posting to their "walls" directly like you'd post to the wall of a Hubzilla forum doesn't work.
You can enter the title in the appropriate field or put it on top as its own paragraph, both work the same.
Afterwards,
you have to mention the Lemmy group. This has to be a normal mention with only a @. I guess this makes merciless crossposting possible, but still.
Embedding images works, and they stay where you've put them. Alt-text, the usual way in BBcode, works, too. In fact, the image remains linked to the original upload location.
In-line code blocks look just like on Hubzilla. Multiple-line code blocks are joined into one line, at least when there are no empty lines.
Besides, these formatting features work:
- lists without letters or numbers
- bold type
- italics
- horizontal lines
Last but not least, comments on a post itself don't necessarily require mentions. Just comment like it's a Hubzilla post.
