Can someone register on a hubzilla/zap instance without email?

i'm questioning email as a communication protocol. I think email should be optional.

Can you explain how it is actually possible?

The admin can configure if registration without email is allowed or not.

@Mario Vavti Yes, but I really wouldn't advise it - the email verification is one of the best methods to prevent spammers and bots from registering. It's not totally fool proof, but without email verification my open hubs would be flooded with (directory) spammers. I still have to do some cleanups from time to time

@Mark Nowiasz i do not advise it either. It can work well if registration is by approval though.
