Stream Order : Commented Date - not always respected?

I find that even when Stream Order is : Commented date, not always the latest post commented upon floats to the topmost. For example, now in my Stream I have a post which was commented last on yesterday but that is at the topmost, while a post commented just an hour ago is pushed down below that. So is there any other logic/algorithm or is it something else or am I understanding something wrong? This is based on what I find in my hub and about the Hubzilla Support Forum posts (maybe other posts also). I am attaching a screenshot so as to explain what I mean.

@Witcraft My default sorting is "commented" and as likes are as far as I understand a kind of comment, I have never had an issue with that. On the contrary.

I have not really found out where is described which sorting does what. I might have misunderstood that commented prioritizes comments over posts, so I would never see uncommented posts (unless I scroll down for long...). I now understood that posted vs. commented means "sort by thread opening date" vs. "sort by last activity date (incl. opening" - Which is what I actually wanted. I thought the only way to get both displayed is unthreaded. So commented might actually be better for my needs.

However:
I would prefer not to review whole threads again and again because they received a like, and I spend time browsing for new content that is not there - And I might have gone to unthreaded because I felt kind of mislead by this sorting, and in unthreaded, I can identify immediately what update is "just" a like vs. new actual content (and select where I review the thread). Not sure if there is a way to spot this immediately in other sortings, or even take this out of sorting.

AFAIK, this has not been reproduced reliably, but updates sometimes seem to take time, and sometimes do not show up at all in the stream (while actually being shown on the sources channel home wall). Not sure if this is relevant here, but it comes to my mind in the context you are describing.

I am not sure whether the stream of a channel needs to be sorted in any way, because I will rarely go there unless I have to (see comments missing). I would view most of my content via network. Then again, there is no harm in having this option (of course, it costs dev ressources for coding it, and I am pretty sure devs are not lacking other stuff to do).

I understand the problem, and I did not mean to say it's not worth solving :slight_smile:

I hope the greater part of the problem disappears with its origin (comments not displayed in the stream of observers).
