Sending messages to a forum

Ni! Are the following supposed to result in a post to a forum ?

At my hub:
- Choose the forum on my stream's sidebar; send a message using the box that shows on top.
- Click on "Recent activity" over the avatar in a message from the forum; send a message using the box that shows on top.

Yesterday I've sent a message to the Dev forum using one of those methods, and I'm starting to think it was sent as a private message to the channel, instead of distributed as a post to the forum. If that's intended behavior, then the usability seems severely broken.

So, an update:

1. I never got the answers to this post back in the thread at my hub. (That's why I'm only replying now.) That is, the private message generated there doesn't get replies. I also replied to the post over there, and the reply doesn't show up here.

2. The message to which I refer in the post was, as I suspected, never distributed as a forum post. It only shows up in my stream as a private message to the forum. Since your replies suggest that this should work as I had imagined (so, no usability issue), there seems to be a bug somewhere.

I'll try to post the unsent message again using the 2 methods I described to see whether one works and the other doesn't. I no longer remember which one I had used.

And yes, the private message you send to the forum is an entity for itself.

@Mario Vavti I have checked that I have forum permissions. I also retried posting both ways and both have worked now. I have no idea what happened before but the old post does show in my timeline, so probably something got fixed in-between. I didn't know the private message was an entity on itself, I guess that's the best we could do given the fediverse privacy mess Mike referred to. It's all fine then, thanks for your attention (= (and sorry for the double post in the forum, I assume deleting my private post won't change that.)
