direct messages settings
Hubzilla Direct Messages (DM) - a channel to initiate - or kill - contacts :-│
Quite a load has just fallen off my shoulders. In my security settings the option "
Can send me direct messages: Only those that you explicitly allow" was active - I changed this to "All Hubzilla connections" for now. Only because I communicated with a person YX in parallel via the EMail channel, I noticed that I send direct messages (DM) to the person @XY, but the person's replies do not reach me.
I have not noticed the setting, the switch "Can send me direct messages" until now, because:
- default value for "Security and Privacy Settings -> Can send me direct messages" is
Only those that you explicitly allow
- I have hardly exchanged DM messages until today
- I have DM communication with a person XY in my timeline, where XY's replies have reached me.
I don't recall explicitly unlocking DM responses for XY. My question are,
could I possibly be allowed the DM responses for XY? As a user, do I have the ability to view the people I have explicitly allowed DM responses to?
Consideration: This setting "Security and Privacy Settings -> Can send me direct messages" does seem to offer quite reliable protection from spam and other harassment prevalent in the digital space, but - my experience - the default setting seemingly "Only those that you explicitly allow" can reliably prevent the initiation of contacts UNWANTED, just kill :-│.
