While working on the direct messages module i had the idea to also change the default Hubzilla startpage. Basically the startpage would be a single thread viewer with a widget providing a chronologically ordered and condensed view of thread starters. The same concept will be used for direct messages.

IMO the single thread approach has many advantages over the stream approach:
- more concious selection of content you want to see
- more focused reading of content
- more time for your real life
Of course if you want to jump into the stream-rabbit-hole, that will still be possible by visiting the stream app. Also there is an addon (startpage) which lets you set your preferred startpage.
