Hubzilla directory load failure
If the module 'directory' is blank, what part of the software should be investigated further please?

Do you mean the channel directory? Then it could be because ‘This Website Only’ is activated and there are no channels on the hub?

What is entered in the ‘Directory server URL’ field in the admin panel?

As always, start by checking the server logs for any errors or warnings.

There is no 'admin panel'
There is a menu 'admin'
Theri is no 'directory server url', but if memory is correct, there is some configuration file which shows this information. Sorry but I cannot remember the configuration file. Have tried '.htconfig.php' but not there.

Sorry... I used the wrong term. Admin Panel of course refers to the admin page.
There you will also find the input field for the directory server URL under the menu item ‘Site’ in content areas (the one in the centre).

Have seen that field before. After re-installation this has disappeared.
Something is wrong.
Also, in the serer log, repeated error:
"...
Onepoll.php:15:run: onepoll: start
Onepoll.php:38:run: onepoll: abook_id not found:
..."
Will probably try to re-install

No need to re-install. Nomadic identity weakness is the problem

I'll stop the ‘feeding’ here now and recommend anyone who thinks Hubzilla is so bad to simply use another, better system.
Moral of the day: If you ‘’play your instance to pieces‘’, it simply causes problems.

Another example of superficial thought; "unable to see the wood for the trees".
Few immature programmers today think with depth about protocol design, or _why_ failures occurs. No wonder good people retire.
